FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes! These records must be provided from your vet at least 48 hours prior to your dog’s first stay with us. Your pet will have had to have the following immunizations at least 5 days prior to arriving at Toby Town.

  • Negative Fecal Exam: Every 12 months, must have vet proof
  • DHLPP or equivalent: This shot protects your dog against five serious, often deadly, diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis, Lepto, Parainfluenza, Parvo (also accepted DHPP/DA2PPv)
  • Rabies: Comes in 1 year and 3 year doses and are required by law. Dogs must have up-to-date rabies certificate to enter the facility.
  • Bordatella: Canine Cough. We require updates every six month.
  • Canine Influenza: H3N8 and H3N2

*Many dogs have unique medical needs and lifestyles and Toby Town RVA will accept modifications to these specific vaccination requirements if you provided signed documentation from your veterinarian and we decide these modifications do not put other dogs at risk.

Bacteria and parasites can be passed easily from dog to dog, so only healthy dogs should attend daycare. If your pet is showing any symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, warts, eye discharge or rashes, please leave them home while they are contagious or until your veterinarian has approved your dog’s return to daycare.

Each dog’s diet is different and must be maintained for their optimal health which is why you need to pack meals from home when lodging. At Toby Town, we do 2 feedings per day, but if your dog needs to be fed more than that, please bring that to our attention on your Lodging Reservation Form. Portion your pet’s regular food into separate containers for each feeding. The containers must be labeled with your dog’s name and must be resealable and airtight. If you feed canned food, the dog’s name must be on each can and their portion amount must be given to us at check-in. Make sure to pack enough food for your dog’s entire stay, but we recommend extra servings be packed in case of travel delays. If a guest arrives for check-in without their food properly packed, we will ask the pet parent to complete this task before leaving.

While we understand how attached a pup can get to their special belongings, we need to be careful what our guests bring from home. This enables us to maintain the utmost health and safety standards. Left unsupervised, toys can present choking hazards. In addition, items from home are potential sources of germs that can be spread to our facility. However, if you have a special circumstance, please feel free to discuss it with us before the day of your check-in.
